Play your favorite Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games without leaving Azeroth. If you own a ROM, you can play it, along with four original games. Two players can link up for multiplayer in supported games - battle and trade with your friends and guildies.

What it is

MekkaBoy is a Lua addon for WoW Forever. There is nothing to install besides the addon folders and nothing running outside the game. Type /mb and a handheld emulator opens on your screen. It has a shelf of cartridges, four memory valves for save states, rewind, and fast-forward capabilities.

It closes itself when you enter combat and pauses itself for any ready check, dungeon queue, summon, resurrect, trade, duel, or flight landing, so you don't miss any action.

Downtime

You spend a lot of time in Classic not doing much: on a flight path, on a boat, walking back from a wipe, waiting for a fourth. MekkaBoy is for that time. It doesn't get in the way of WoW, and WoW doesn't get in the way of it.

Bring your own games

MekkaBoy ships with four original games and no others. A game ROM you own can be installed into the emulator through the Workshop, a page that runs in your browser and turns the file into a code you paste into the game, or a folder for Advance games. Your file is not uploaded anywhere. Games you add will play without sound unless you record a soundtrack pack from your copy - instructions on how to do that can be found in the FAQ.

Link play

Two players in a party, each with MekkaBoy and their own copy of a game, can use the game's own trade and battle features with each other. Get in a party, both open the same game, both type /mb link, and the game treats you as two Game Boys on a cable. Verified in the live beta with Pokémon Emerald. The full supported list is on the Tested page, and we will keep testing and adding multiplayer support as people ask for it.

It works anywhere in the open world, so you can meet a friend at the inn to trade, battle on the Stormwind docks while you wait for a raid to fill, or run a bracket for your guild on a Sunday. Anyone on your server with the addon and their own copy of the game can link with you.
